Photographer’s Notes
I went down to the Seattle Center to photograph skate boarders at the new skate park. Bad weather; no boarders. So I wandered around looking for something interesting to shoot. I took lots of photos including this one of the exterior of the Experience Music Project (opened in 2000) and Science Fiction Museum (2004). The Frank Gehry designed building is pretty neat. You can see more of it here: //unusual-architecture.com/experience-music-project-seattle-wa-usa/

Anyway, just over a kiosk and keeping with the science fiction theme, there’s this neat bot which I’ve photographed before, but never satisfactorily. This time I tried 5 bracketed hand held shots 2/3 of an f/stop apart and relied on Photomatix to align, process to HDR and tone map. I’m happy with this one.

Titles, ah titles. I agonized over the title for this. Here are some candidate titles:
• 3 Laws? We Don't Need No Stinking 3 Laws!
• Sentinal
• Deus Ex Machina
• Rise of the Machines
• Bad Bot Bad Bot ... Whatch Gonna Do?
• Robotus Rotundus
• Extium Ex Machina
• Bibendum Reimagined
• Barbarian at the Gate
• Fat Bot

Enjoy!

Post Processing
• Process to HDR (Photomatix)
• Tone Map (Photomatis)
• Crop (PSCS4)
• Remove Sensor Dust (PSCS4 Clone Layer)
• Dodge & Burn (PSCS4 Overlay Layer)

• Reduce Noise (Masked Neat Image Layer)

Wow, you did an excellent job capturing this building. I don't recall the robot being there when I visited, but it just adds another interesting element to things. You've really got some interesting colors in the building itself though.

Greetings Doctor (trying to keep in with the theme here ;) )

Initial thoughts
Wow!

On reflection
An amazing piece of architecture you've captured there and the post processing works very well to bring out all of it's otherworldliness. The more I look, the more aware I become that I'm only seeing a part of the whole. Not necessarily a problem, I like detail, but with undeniable anthropomorphism, I feel you've cut it's 'nose' (proboscis?) in half and chopped it's legs at an awkward point. (Looking at the link you supplied I can see what appears to be a plexiglass structure in front of the creature, maybe that limited you with the legs.) The point of engagement, the 'eye', is maybe placed less than ideally, verging on being bottom centre.

In conclusion
A striking image and well handled with the technicals, a subject worthy of further compositional exploration.

Farewell Earthling...........

Very abstract like. Almost cartoonish (in a nice way). Very crisp. I'm thinking very modern European architecture. You'll have to put details in the photographer's comments.
