Okay! there have been other baby bird shots as shown in my comments, but none of this particular one, who was born under my deck. She has since flown off on her own and maybe will appear again someday on DPC. Thanks for all the comments. I feel very honored to be in the top ten.

Not quite sure what to do with this one -- wonderful shot, but there's definitely been baby bird shots before ( for example) but your lighting is different. I'll have to ponder for awhile :D

It is a very nice shot!

I don't even know what to make of this. Good detail on the head but strange that it is just floating and cut off from anything.

This is a great capture of a young bird. The lighting may be a little harsh but am sure it will score well for you.

Ugly little thing... but somehow quite endearing. Well shot with the blackness all around. (not voting)

I know I've seen baby birds in challenges before, and if I'm right, it looks similar to one user's style of shooting baby birds in a vineyard. Aside from that, the lighting and colors are fantastic and I love that you can just barely see the pupil of the green eye. I don't know what was available to you, but I might have done a horizontal orientation instead with the chick on the left to strengthen the idea that the bird is calling out to its mother. Just an opinion though, still a lovely photo.

I hate to be the one to say...but I've entered baby bird shot(s) as young as this if not younger. Good colors and focus.

Not one to kill your idea but..this is pretty similar. I certainly don't mean to come off as rude. It's a shame the nest creates that blob of blur in the foreground. Those little guys are not very attractive are they? LOL
