Challenge: Promote Your Zoo (Advanced Editing VII*)
Collection: Favorites - Ribbons
Camera: Canon EOS-50D
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L IS USM
Location: Beardsley Zoo, Bridgeport, CT
Date: Jun 5, 2009
Aperture: f/4.0
ISO: 3200
Shutter: 1/50

Date Uploaded: Jun 7, 2009

Since I'm actually promoting the Beardsley Zoo in real life, I pretty much HAD to enter this challenge! It wasn't my challenge suggestion, but a poor showing here would be personally embarrassing, so I made three trips to the zoo and probably took 2000 shots this week. Lots to choose from, but I liked the dramatic lighting and pose on this one.

On my "too bright" at work monitor, there's quite a bit of color noise on the kittie's front paw and the dark area of the rock next to the kittie's face. You'd of course notice that if you tried to print it for the zoo. Definitely a worthy shot! And how cool that you're promoting them in real life!

Shannon - this is really outstanding stuff - but I wonder if that bright Mac screen cost you a bit - it seemed a bit on the 'dark side' when I looked at it on my stinky IBM laptop last week. It looks MUCH better on my calibrated monitor here.

15th and nearly a 6.5 - Highly respectable, Shannon! Well done. Of course you know by now the ones you work the least at do the best and vice versa. :)

Absolutely wonderful shot. Great DOF getting detail on the cat's face and cool (literally) in the rocks and pool.

Gorgeous ocelot and a nice sharp and well composed shot. The text and slogan is fine as well and doesn't distract from the beautiful photo.

This photo is a bit noisy but the cat is simply beautiful, the focus on it's face is great. With a wee touch of denoising, this shot would be fabulous.

Great shot - love the fascination the cat has with whatever it sees. Text is nicely placed and I like how the colors match those in the photograph.
