I saw this cute little truck in the parking lot while I was shopping. I don't like to obviously take pictures in public, but I couldn't resist this truck. Of course the moment I get out my camera and take a picture a couple of guys came walking over and I just knew it was their car...so I was incredibly brave and instead of running away I asked if it was his car, he said yes, and I asked if I could take more pictures, and he obliged. This is a 1939 Ford V8 pickup. The engine has been replaced with a 1959 V8. The big deal is that I actually spoke with a stranger to ask permission to take pictures...I've only done that twice in the two years I've had this camera :-)

The original is pretty sucky, there was no way to avoid getting cars in the background and I didn't really feel comfortable enough to take a lot of time trying to find good angles.

I did a really sloppy job of cloning out the background stuff, added a couple more clouds, ran Color Efex Pro cross processing and tonal contrast filters, and used the following overlays

The shot looks pretty nice now. You certainly fixed it up.
My grandfather had a 32 V8 Ford pickup, which looked almost like this one except for the way the wheels were built. He called it "Leapin' Lena" and we used to go fishing on the back roads in the Everglades, and to the Seminole reservation to visit with his friends there with it. My grandfather gave it to my older brother, and he drove it until he graduated high school. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories.

Love the story. I'm the same, except w/a camera in my hand I'm brave enuf to talk to almost any stranger, as they usually pay much more attention to 'the photographer' & ignore me completely, just the way I like it. This old car has seen a lot--maybe you got the owner's email addy so you can send him a file. He might have a few friends would would be interested in similar 'old' pics. "D You used just the right camera angle & made great improvements.
