I've been starting with a shot that scores around 5.5 because it usually indicates a promising shot that could have been improved. Here, I like your idea, but I would suggest a few things. First, this is going to be an image about form and flow (and color), so distracting elements don't help. The upper right BG needs to be nixed. You can do that by providing your own BG (maybe a matboard), changing the POV, or editing (although on DPC you couldn't have edited that completely out). What I do like is the diagonal movement, but I have have tried to emphasize that a bit more. Maybe by raising the camera by an inch.

This picture is awesome, it deserved to do much better in the challenge. I might have liked the color to be more off center but besides that great capture.

i saw this photo in the challenge be4 and ment to come back to leave a comment but time as it always does slips trought the cracks of my hands, anyway i happy i fould you and this photo again, i think your photo is very beautiful, the plant is very well places in the frame and the colors are very vibrant for being soft shades, i think maybe having the colored flower two flowers to the left and haveing this one in b/w might have helped this score wise an bit better and maybe a softer shade of pink for the boarder it tends to draw my eye (imo) but either way i love this photo as is very nicely done i would love to see it huge on canvis im sure that would be very nice lol great job!

Great job with the composition of the flower Janine, Love the lead in of the branch on the upper left. Nice job with the selective desaturation, nice job not to let the color bleed to the other hearts as well.

Great job with your presentation with the boarder, it really highlights the coloration of the flower. Perhaps a bit of a burn of the bright area behind the flower no to much though it is adding a nice amount of depth to the overall photo. Congrats on the score.

Great idea. I would have liked the color to be a bit off center, though.

The grayscale image with colored elements is fast becoming a meme in these challenges and it doesn't always work. The repetition of this type of image is fast becoming passe'. Having said that, this is very different and unigue - a solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it has significant impact being richly colored with excellant detail. A perfect demonstration of the power of properly controlled light and focus. Well done.
