YES this dragonfly is very ALIVE !!! Was not my original plan to shoot this for texture. Went out to shoot birds , saw this lovely dragonfly and as I had my Sigma 150mm macro lens with me , I shot off a couple of shots.

This shot is cropped pretty tight and I am surprised the quality held up reasonably well, so lets see what happens.

There will be a couple of DNMC I guess (or maybe a lot), some won't call this texture just details LOL!!

Hi ,
There was a request to see the original so here it is. As I mentioned , the crop is significant and I am surprised the quality held up. Hooray for the D3 !!

Love the "catchlights" (not that that has anything to do with texture but they really add to the expression). Surprisingly hairy little face. Texture abounds.

It's almost as if these insects have become "re-discovered" as a new species on Earth with all these beautiful Macros I see everyday, years ago, one could never know what a Dragonfly really looks like! on a technical note, this image is just perfect, love the colorful green background- 10

If this had been cropped to just below the forelegs, it would have been perfect and a terrific demonstration of texture in the natural world. As it is it works very well and is an effective and provacative image. Well done.
