 I am just beginning to venture back to black and white after many years. But I had to leave the rainbow in color. In the right place at the right time. The rainbow only lasted for a few minutes as the rain continued and the sun came back out. Originally edited in color, but b&w seems to better convey the turbulence of the storm that came through.

Two layers: with the color layer below the b&w layer. Used eraser tool to expose the rainbow. Otherwise levels, contrast, B&W conversion, and some selective edits for levels and sharpen.

Emphasizing the rainbow colors by selective desaturation is an excellent idea. IMO , a more suitable song title for this image would be "True Colors" by Cindy Lauper.
