I bought a glossy wind spinner in Cape May back in 2005. I used it with a couple of strands of small multicolored ornamentel lights for two challenges that year: The Illusions II Challenge for an image called Rainbow Oscillations and for the Username Challenge for an image called 'wavelength' . The former scored a 5.2578 and the latter scored 5.9817. The mathematical progression inidcates a score on this of 6.8! LOLOLOL! Well...we'll see.

Haven't used the wind spinner since. Here is a pic of the set up from 2005 . The set up for this was basically the same, except for a lot more lights. I used a strand of 150 hanging them from the top of my shooting area on either side of the wind spinner which wad also hanging from the top of my shooting area. I have a piece of white poster board that I have weighted to the top shelf of my old computer desk that hangs over the 1.5 foot shooting area of the desk top.

The last images were shot with the Fuji S7000 so I was limited as to how I could shoot as I could only stop down to f/ 8 with that camera. Using the D200 now and the Nikon 105 VR, I had more options and used a few different apertures and shutter speeds before settling on the ones used in this and the majority of the images I shot.

Camera on tripod with cable remote release. I set the spinner in motion, shot on a diagonal and shot until the spinner slowed down and then repeated the process.

Well enough about that. Here it is. I hope it is at least abstract. It is certainly more abstract than the previous ones and I think and it shows motion better than those as well, hopefully.

Later!

Post: Camera Raw Adjustments in PSElements 6.0. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Cropped to 1.25:1 aspect ratio and then cropped again to get rid of a hot pixel and a bit of glare from one of the lights at the lower right. Rotate 90° right. Adjust sharpness. Curves adjustment to increase the mid tones. Resize. USM.

First thing that popped into my head was, this would've been an awesome sculpture in an 80's night club! The colours are really great!

A very interesting use of color and adapting motion to influence color. It's certainly well within the challenge constraints.
