This is very dramatic. Wondersul cloud, and the reslection looks like painting. Even though horizon is straight the lighthouse looks little crooked. Still great shot. Good Luck.

Great clouds, great story here, I love the clarity of it and the idea of this man sitty alone out on that little path to the little lighthouse.

Aptly titled. Wonderful cloudscape. Pleasant reflections. Including the figure drinking in the clouds was brilliant ... wish it were me! Among best in class.

surreal image, the man and warning light have a feel of being dropped into the image, which, to me, gives it a very mysterious feel. Nicely done

it looks to my eye like there is some weird artifacting going on in the water from processing. Because of the nature of this challenge, I am ignoring it for my vote.

What I find except10nal about this pic is the grandeur of the cloud matched with its reflection and giving a nice frame to the individual in the chair.

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. The B&W processing is spectacular. The tones and contrasts are very dynamic. Love the clouds and the gleam on the water's surface that looks like a pathway. Speaking of the pathway it leads our eye to the main subject of the composition. We see the outpost first but then our eye spots the human element. The man that is sitting there watching...but watching what we ask? Perhaps he is a lookout or perhaps he is like us, just watching the fantastic display on storm clouds. A storm seems to be brewing and there might be a spectacular light show off in the distance of cloud to cloud lightning or lightning strikes upon the water. The composition's mood and feel really draws us in. This holds many story elements. Well done!

Very good entry, personally I would have shortened the fore ground a little, but then that's me... 7

I know it's a technical cliché to comment of the horizon being in the middle of the image but I really do feel the image suffers from it. To me the foreground included in this crop doesn't add anything to the shot. I would probably have croped it just under the reflection. Otherwis it had a very nice feel to it with the looming clouds and lonely man on his chair. 6

There is NOTHING better IMHO than an excellent B&W seascape, everything can be so emotive and dramatic. This is exactly how your photo makes me feel, it is excellent. Fantastic composition and subject, I think the central horizon works very well and the tonal range in the clouds is wonderful. Best of luck, 10 from me.

This is very cool. Great cloud and sillouette. I thought it was a lighthouse but with the person next to it it is probably not- just a beacon tower marking the end of the jetty. Curous why BW instead of color on it. Still it works.

When I pulled this up, I was so fixated on the QUAY thing that I didn't see the guy sitting there. I really like photos where you get nice surprises once you start really looking at it. If I was speeding through voting, I don't think I would've seen him.

Some shots just scream B&W. I really like that the reflection of the brightest cloud surrounds the subject. Nicely done.

This is really beautiful, and brave choice of B & W in a genre that s more usually tackled in colour. Unusual to see a lighthouse of that scale too.

The sense of scale here is eerie. Without the man, it's a lighthouse on a promontory; with the man, it's a very strange marker light on the end of a jetty :-) I wish the little haloing around light/sky/water interface were not there. It's easy enough to fix, feel free to ask me how if you wish.

This is a very nice image. Nice tonal range and a great candidate for B/W. Subject seems a bit too centered IMO. Seeing some halos around the lighthouse and man in chair that take away somewhat.
