Whoa, strange, different, and refreshing to see something interesting. The cylinder on the left is a little distracting, I think a closer crop would be nice, but well done.

For some reason this reminds me of the 1950 vintage movie, The Day the Earth Stood Still. It's start. It's soft. It's angular. It's amorphous. It's what i'd like to see more of at DPC. Among best in class.

Only a couple of minor defects keep this from being
a supreme shot.

This image is absolutely haunting. It makes me FEEL. The door, the light, the surreal quality. Fabulous. The white pillar/seat seems a distraction, but in reference to the imagined story, makes sense once realized. To move forward, cross the threshold, or to go back and wait. The crossed arms add to the pensive quality. Love it.

Really love the mystery here. The toning works really well, soft touch adds rather than detracts. Excellent centered composition

A lot of SciFi feel to this work, would make a good cover shot for a novel or title page of a short story, that said it has a unique illustration quality that transcends a photograph. Very hard to evaluate but it is compelling... 9

Straight out of X Files. Very mysterious. Great use of light. Very interesting portal shape, and geometric shapes. I wonder if cloning out the door handles would have made it even better. Also, the object on the lower left is distracting. Either more of it or not at all?

I like photos that could be a snippet of a dream or flashes of a memory. This definitely fits in both cases. 10

I like it, it has attitude! Maybe it's just my monitor, but in the lower left corner there is a light step or box or something. It distracts from the photo a bit.

interesting, dreamy art. just the box at left is a bit distracting

Very interesting and different. The white elbow shape on the left is a little distracting and I wonder if cropping it out would let us focus on the rest of the photo.

fun idea, and well executed. only thing i might do would be to either clone out or crop out the white thing off to the left. otherwise, interesting and mystical photo that i am giving an 8:)

Tighter crop on the sides (get rid of the object on the left) would help this fantastic image. Great job though!

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. There is such a surreal feel to this capture and a very symbolic one. An individual hangs above the ground, he stand upon the threshold of open doors that signal a new journey. A leaving of what lies behind and to venture in to the vast horizon beyond. What that journey holds only time will tell. There are no identifying features on the individual so it makes it very easy for us, the viewer, to project ourselves into the scene and identify with a journey that is unfolding before us. All it takes is courage to take that first step. The silhouetted individual seems to be hovering above ground which adds to the surrealism of the scene. He/she seems be hovering between two posiblities or two paths. Stay grounded and go back or the sky is the limit and venture forth. This journey can be real or imagined. Very symbolic imagery you have captured here - thank you for sharing this vision with us.

Very intriguing shot. The only critique I have is that cylinder on the left.. it disrupts the balance of an otherwise symmetrical photo.

I like the idea and the contrast. What is that footstool looking thing on the left doing in there, though?
03/11/2009 06:58:05 AM
Cool effect. Too bad about the bench on the left. I'll bet you were seriously conflicted about the 'removing major elements' thing. I'm going to just pretend it's not there and vote accordingly. :)

PS. I find the sharp edges on the door handle on the right to be a bit distracting. Actually, they are both a bit distracting, but not substantially for the one on the left.
