Duck's Ditty
All along the backwater,
Through the rushes tall,
Ducks are a-dabbling,
Up tails all!
Ducks' tails, drakes' tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver,
Yellow bills all out of sight
Busy in the river!
Slushy green undergrowth
Where the roach swim--
Here we keep our larder,
Cool and full and dim.
Everyone for what he likes!
WE like to be
Heads down, tails up,
Dabbling free!
High in the blue above
Swifts whirl and call--
WE are down a-dabbling
Up tails all!

| Greetings neighbor (making it a practice to comment on those near to my entry in the challenge results)!!! The color of water is like liquid sunshine! Love those rich golden tones. Good eye in spotting this moment - one head of a duck submerged underwater, but THREE! Very much captures a 'monkey see, monkey do' kind of moment. Good composition to have the reeds act as 'bookends' to showcase the main subjects in the middle. It subtley calls our attention back to the ducks. |
