 It was rainy out today but I had the camera next to me waiting for the birds to come in to the feeders. I actually turned our downstairs bathroom into a bird blind ;-). I put the window up about 10 inches, closed the blinds and stuck the lens out the window. I was having trouble capturing enough light, so I was fooling around with the ISO and I set it to 3200. Then of course this guy shows up and I forget that I'm at 3200. He was really close and I got some good shots, but they are noisy. PP on the noise worked pretty well for a web sized version at least. I am not sure I could have captured enough light without the high ISO anyway.

Great close up of this "cardinal". Its a great shot! I would of liked to of seen a more colorful background to emphasis the color of the bird itself.

A gorgeous cardinal, beautifully rendered. Somehow, I associate cardinals with spring and summer, not necessarily January. Calendar pictures are usually more about what's typical of the season, not neccesarily the season in which it was taken.
