Did I mention how much I hate tilted horizons? I'm going to torture myself if this does well enough to end up on my profile page - maybe that's a good thing - motivation to get it off! :)

Well I really wouldn't have submitted this week if it wasn't for the DPC Olympics, so I just shows that side tournaments really do push you to expand your photographic horizons. I took a mid-week trip into the city (Sydney, Australia) for this shot, and met my brother for dinner, which was lovely. He stood there very patiently while I painstakingly aligned my camera and tripod to get this composition. The monorail does a circuit every 3-5 minutes, and my outtakes tell me I waited for at least 5 circuits to get this shot. I needed the light to drop a bit to balance the lamps with the ambient, and this was my last shot of the night. It was actually almost dark at this point.

I know the weakness of this is in the blown highlights of the lamps, but also that the leading lines don't really lead to a compelling point of focus.

We'll see how it does - maybe a 6?

Wow, I'm really blown away by the score that this is getting so far - 7.14 at the moment, and it has been as high at 7.27 over the week. It would be a buzz if it made the profile page for the lens (which is magic, btw), and a ribbon? I don't even dare to dream...

Oh my goodness!!! I'm so happy right now, thank you all for your lovely comments, and Go Aussies!!!

Wonderful use of tilting the horizon to add to the effect of the monorail, and the movement is great too. It all works, as well as the processing.
