This is one of 4 fish in our aquarium - this one is by far the dimmest!

Post challenge:

I was really surprised how well this did and how many lovely comments. For me though, I think the image is technically quite poor and in retrospect it all looks too over-processed to me. I'm going to make a conscious effort to go easier with the post-processing from now on.

Same fish, better shot:

i like the detail of the face ,the fading focus toward the back of the tail, yet you kept the contrast of the object VRS background

This should have taken at least 2nd; I don't think people realize how hard it is to shoot fish, especially macro. Nice composition and crisp detail where it matters.

Loved this one for both the expression and for being different ... good to see it finish on the front page. Congrats on your HM.

Holy shit! This stopped me in my tracks. After slogging through so many boring dog & cat snapshots this is a delight to the senses. I love everything about it. I'm not quite done voting yet, but there's no doubt that this is the best in the challenge for me. 10

Great capture! The DoF is perfect to highlight the important parts of the shot. The tail fills the frame nicely without dominating.

I wish I had a dollar for every photo with this title on this site. Or "What are you looking at?" *grin*

Perfectly framed and great sharp focus on the face, especially through water. I wish there weren't so much noise (I think Neat Image would have cleared up most of it) in the background... and I'm sure some will ask for more contrast or brightness. Still it's a 7 from me.

I think this would be even better if it were a bit brighter. That being said, I love this shot and I'm marking it as a favorite! Trying to get a fish to cooperate for posing can't be easy!

Terrific capture! I hate trying to get pics of fish, turtles, or anything else behind glass. 9

Nice expression. The fish fills the frame well and it is a bit refreshing after all the dog and cat pictures.

my only ten in this challenge so far. The reason, not cute and furry but the clarity, the colour , the details, the background fins, this is an excellent shot imo

Very nice fish shot; wonderfully clear and nice DOF. Also rather pleasing shape to his body here, and the purplish hue gets you a bonus point from me ;-)

Awesome shot, I love the fact that it isn't a cat or dog. I don't know what it is but something about the background color is keeping me from giving you a ten. 8

This is beautiful, I love the soft focus with the rest of his body as background.
