This guy is the most difficult model to work with. It's hard to get him to smile for the camera.

Taking a risk and submitting a self portrait. I had nothing else and only 2 hours to come up with something. Predicting low to mid 5. Better than the 0 I'd get if I entered nothing for the FSM. Not sure about my cut off elbow. Will hurt the score, or not? Hopefully some comments.

CS3 edits; crop, smart sharpen (twice), curves, re-size, sharpen eyes, and cloned out some dust spots. Then some noise removal.

1 softbox to my right.

Now how did I miss that hotspot on the side of my head? Sheesh!

This is a very nice portrait ... actually self-portrait, because I know who it is. So I should abstain I suppose but I have already pressed the number & I don't know how to un-vote. But if I didn't know who it is, I'd say it's a natural, understated and professional work, simple and all the more effective for that, and deserved at least the 7 that I gave it.

Great shot. I like the soft side lighting. The lines in the background are nice and simple but interesting. Great casual expression... looks very natural. 8

Seems like a forced smile :) I like the light on this and B&W is working to convey the person in the image.

Nice portrait with good expression, absence of glasses glare, three dimensionality with side light, although dark side of face could use a little more light than that one somewhat bright spot. If repeated, consider eliminating the little triangle of background between the shirt and back of the chair (position, crop, clone?).
