This is a picture of Notre Dame cathedral taken during a recent business trip to Paris. The day was cool and overcast with intermittent light drizzle. A monochrome treatment seemed almost "natural" given the generally grey feeling of the day. In the case of this image, the sun briefly broke through the clouds and illuminated the facade of the cathedral just as I was leaving the site; I was fortunate to look over my shoulder and turn to capture this image.

Of course, the cliched, oversaturated image I took of the Eiffel tower later that trip would have scored better in this competition, but I would like comments and feedback to help me improve the quality of my more serious photographic efforts. Since the Notre Dame image is more representative of my "style" of photography (such as it is), I offer my image up to the inevitable barrage of 3s, 4s and 5s in the hope of one or two useful comments.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Nice finish on a new second personal best! Wow you are very good with architectural photography. Thanks so much for taking the time to fill out the details about this photo. It is wonderful timing that you were able to capture the sun peaking through. The light defiantly effect specific tones of the photos, that I think are drawn out through the monochrome treatment. The composition is good, I like that you angled the photo as you saw it instead of trying to crop out to much or straighten it.

I really like this photo, I hope you printed a nice big copy for yourself. I am sorry you didn't receive some quality comments. I hope you stay inspired and continue to share your artist style, through these wonderful pieces of architecture.

good composition, but it does not strike me as dramatic
