 A dry run for Valentine's day cards :-) The background is way too busy (a colander) and the shadows from the blinds are kinda lame, they add to the busy-ness. But I do like the robot holding the heart sucker. So I'll keep working on it...
Did Color Efex tonal contrast and pro contrast, then converted to B&W in Silver Efex pro and masked out candy. The overlay is here from playingwithbrushes on flickr (love her stuff!!!). There are two copies of it on overlay blend mode, then one copy of just the edge on multiply mode.

I agree with Deb, if it were less 'busy' I don't think it would work as well, and I think its a well thought out shot and the pp'ing is great for this, your so clever ;)

See, now I don't think it's too busy at all! The busy-ness adds to the delight and charm of this. I very much like it just the way it is, with the textures, both added and natural, and the wee hints of color here and there. I wouldn't change a thing!

One of the best concept shots I've seen in a while. So sad, but so optimistic. He seems helpless, but he is holding his heart. His destiny is in HIS hands.
I hate the border btw.
