I find this exceptional in every way. Pre-eminently it provokes our deepest emotional imagining, but it also challenges our preconceptions about visual representation.

Very unusual and well executed portrait.

Yes. An unusual young/old face and those blood vessels in the eyelids immediately lift this into more than an ordinary portrait. I've always liked portraits with the eyes shut as well; they are rare, and nearly always more interesting for that counter-intuitive decision. This is an extraordinary photograph, quite boldly conceived and very well executed. 8.

disturbing and beautiful at the same time. the concept makes me suspicious, like it could have been done before. But what takes me over the top is the unusual lighting and what it does to his left eye. There is a hidden expression in this face, eyes wide open in (to) another universe. Posthumous Yellow Ribbon.

This is different. I like the veins on his eyelid. Nice use of light and shadow. Artfully done. :~)

Sort of haunting, I really can't guess the age of this person, especially with veins on the eyelids being as evident as they are, I think a softer light on the left and not letting it spill over onto the the right cheek and eye would have been helpful, maybe a bit of bounced light on the right to lighten that side of the face up but still keep the left/right contrast.
