There was an Ansel Adams shot like this that hung in my high school English classroom, and it is probably my favorite AA picture. I'm so glad there was a shot like this in the challenge since I wasn't able to do one myself, so thanks!

Another wel deserved 6+! And you predicted a 4.2? Very nice with a good range of the gray scale. The light hits the front row of trees very subtly.

Something a tad bit haunting about this shot that I love. Nicely done.

Simple and haunting. Tonal qualities really work for me. I'd boost the contrast maybe sooooo very slightly but I'm being really anal. This very good work and worth of a ribbon. Good luck to you! Bumped to 9

I know Adams did a shot a lot like this, but I never particularly liked it, same applies to this one I'm afraid. Technically I think it's pretty good, a touch dark perhaps. Might have been nice to see a bit more of the plain ground at the bottom of the shot.

The scene is quintessentially Adams, from his introspective moods, but the rendering falls short of what it might be. See //z.about.com/d/govegas/1/0/P/X/aspensdawnbeladams.jpg for a similar scene by AA, and how he handled the tonalities. You have much of that potential here.

What a fabulous painting-like quality. Great geometry. Not enough detail in the bark or ground for it to be truly Ansel.

Nice try but one tree out of all of these should be the focal point to be in the Adams style nice image though.

The one I like most and that to me comes closest to the work of Ansel Adams

A little too dark IMO, made more so by the choice of a black border.
