I have no idea what this cool old building was, but now it's a recreation facility (swimming pool & stuff) at St. Edwards State Park. Named after Senator John Edwards, probably.

...NOT! LOL

Almost appears as though armageddon (spelling?) is just on the other side of that building and the bird is doing his darndest to get the heck out of there!

WOW, what a foreground to put in front of that awesome sky! Now, the bird was either a result of waiting for hours, serendipity or you got a bird brush for christmas? whichever it finishes this shot off perfectly.

Looks like an old church. Good timing getting that bird in there. Great shot.

Not HDR. I've not delved into HDR waters as of yet. In fact, I can barely spell HDR. :)

Yeah, that HRD stuff puzzles me as well.

It's a portentous photograph, with the tower, the bird & the cross. An ominous message from above. I think it means 'go to church, or I'll send a pigeon to crap on your car'.

The building is wonderful but that sky is so odd it ROCKS! It reminds me of a closeup (a blurry closeup) of the outer layer of the Sun. Due to a rogue comet passing by Earth and mucking up its orbit, the Earth has been spiraling in toward the Sun and we are so near that the Sun is HUGE in the sky...of course, all living things would be gone by this time so I have no reasonable explanation for that bird :-)

Outstanding. Entire quote as follows, if you care:

No man is an Island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.

— John Donne, Meditation XVII

Back in the day (this was a long time ago) they of course had no telephones, no telegraphs, no form of instant communication. So when something of moment happened, like a death of someone of stature in the community, they would toll the bell of the church or the abbey, and the people would come and gather and hear the news. So if I were a wealthy man, say, I'd send my manservant out to ask for whom the bell tolled; and it's me that John Donne is addressing in this meditation.

Sorry if this is TMI, but it's a favorite meditation of mine :-)

Sweet, love the creepy feel. I can almost see Quasimoto ringing the bell up there!
