That's right, I'm entering a cell phone shot in the Best of 2008. Dammit.

*AFTER CHALLENGE*

This has to be my most successful entry in a DPC challenge yet. Not score wise, for sure, but for many, many reasons.

1 - Cell phone shot, mid 5. hell ya?

2 - I just love this shot and the free spirit it invokes, and to have it be recognized with a posthumous blue ribbon in the premier Year End challenge? Well, that's just beyond scope for me.

3 - Did I mention I love this shot?

So I'm walking high right now. A moment not soon forgotten.

Great capture. This could pass as a picture of a girl taken in the 20's or anywhere near that era. It has that old world look to it. I have that phone too and am going to use it for a challenge or two in the future. ;/ This should have scored closer to a 6 but this is DPC ......

PostLuminous Award Nominee!
Luminous and Wonderful
and something about a bundled up child playing in the cold--how dedicated they are to play, to experience, when most grown-ups would hover inside near the heat vent.

So many years ago. The fence, which had been there for as long as he could remember, was gone. Yet standing there, staring at the now barren land, he could still see the fence in his mind's eye, and he could still see her. How old was she that winter? 5? 6? He couldn't remember. Too much time had passed since then. But he definitely remembered her eyes. Those gorgeous blue eyes that spoke of summer even on the coldest of days. The way they'd stop a stranger in their tracks once she looked at them and smiled. He longed to see them again - older, wiser, but still with that glint of sunshine, he'd bet - but it would take time to build up the courage. He closed his eyes, pictured her once more as she was that winter. Then turned and began the long walk back into his life.

I can see why you entered it. This photo doesn't keep the viewer at arms length like a number of those that placed higher. No, this one invites you in. There's nothing phony or dishonest here. How can you not liked that?

I loved it. Gave it an 8. Just goes to show you don't need all the expensive equipment to make a fantastic photo. Well done for entering it! (Going to have to finally get myself a mobile phone now after years of resisting!)

I thought this was a great shot. It has this classic artistic quality about it. And she doesn't look just posed. She is actually interacting with her environment - and that is good. Love the eyes!

Congrats on a what may be one of the highest scores done with a phone-cam and a Posthumous blue to boot! This entry was a total success for you, IMO.

There's nothing like a fence to show you where the world is. This has that mix of inevitability and strangeness that calls to the land of the posthumous for a ribbon.

Nice, very nice, great colour choice, you have made this shot look old but new. Nice leadign lines, amazing model features, this is one that needs to be blown up and hanging on your wall, very impressive

as if taken decades ago - the b/w conversion and the choice of grain really give this a film like feel
