Seems like you might not be active on DPC any longer. I came across this image and just have to leave a gushing comment. It is truly spectacular! The light, the process - all out of this world. Hope you are doing something amazing with your photographic talents.

Beautiful picture. Congratulations! That is one place that we wanted to go to when we were in Scotland but did not have time to get there. My relatives go to the Trossachs often. They love it.

Of course, I forgot about motorcycles in mid-air ... :-(

Wonderful work, as ever.

Thanks to all for the kind words,
this was my first chance since joining DPC to get out and into my beloved hills..it was also my first attempt at dodging and burning (which helped to emphasise the sunlight and shadows)Hopefully, I`ll get a little better as time goes on.
For the people who expressed an interest in how this was achieved...(nothing too difficult)Took around 6 exposures at different settings, chose the one which had the most sky detail..then used curves to return some detail to the dark areas, finished it off with a little dodging and burning (for reasons above)then reduced noise slightly in Neat image.
Thanks again to everyone who voted and commented.

Nice silhouettes, the light really adds a mood to the whole photo. The placement of the mountain in the frame really enhances the composition. It almost looks like a painting.

Good luck...

I had high hopes of this as a thumbnail and liked it instantly when viewed full size. A wonderful ethereal feel and an excellent composition. Unfortunately it is let down by some kind of square artefacts (seen particularly in dark area lower left) that suggest overdone post-capture processing. 7 rather than 8 or 9.

A truly stunning shot. But it's hard for me to believe you've never taken a landscape before. My interpretation of the topic is to go someplace you've never been to take a shot of something you've never shot before. So a perfect 10 for the image, but a 5 for following the topic. Average being a 7.
  Photographer found comment helpful.
05/10/2004 12:18:12 AM
I really like the subject and colours; however, it looks either over-processed or maybe a bit out of focus and it makes the overall effect a bit distracting. You may have had a better shot taken as-is.

Fantastic light on the ground and trees! A little light on the back mountain would have been nice too, but not something you control.
