It's been snowing for months, I couldn't find any sand! This was shot out of the dirty car window during a snow storm. I added noise to try to make it look like a sand storm. I know I'll get slammed but I wanted to enter anyways!

Brilliant. Quite amazing to get such a high score on an OOB shot. Great idea to create the sand when you don't have any. And the photo is beautiful. I'd have been tempted to remove the utility pole and wires, but they actually work pretty well with this composition.

Mmm. Really like this, really like how you did it, and how many people can get 3 parallel power lines to LOOK parallel AND contribute to the scene... Sets the imagination free to savour the mood. (Congratulations to the unofficial award givers too.)

Holy crap Terry, 9 people gave you a 10 for a snow shot in a sand challenge. You can't beat that.

And I would have been much less impressed had he cropped out the power lines. This was the only ten I handed out and is my pick of this challenge. It took some guts to enter this -- power lines, lack of sand and all.

What an excellent use of grain.

Way to go! Might be my top pick yet (I'm at 80%). It goes against the grain (no pun intended) but still nails the challenge.

The grain here works for me.

Wow, that is a lot of noise. It works well to give the effect of the barren wind swift sandy area. Visable halos around the fence posts.

i really think you a better title would do this well. This almost looks like a windstorm rather than a dream. This is probably my absolute favorite photo in the competition. I hope it ribbons!

Very interesting and artistic shot. The simplicity is killer. Don't know how the "graininess" will go over with voters.

Neat image processing - looks like snow though? I could see this on a greeting card.
