Interesting interpretation, though he could be asleep or just opening a pack of cigarettes. His face, and not just his posture, should convey unlucky. The negative space doesn't add much. Good try.

I agree about the negative space. But your rule about the face having to convey luck... I'm not so sure of that. In this case, his face is not even showing...

It's hardly a rule. Rules apply in general and, of course, are meant to be broken. I was referring to this particular shot. Sorry if that was unclear. In this shot, his posture alone isn't telling me that he's unlucky -- he could be asleep, relaxing his neck, any number of things (someone suggested looking at his watch). If you were there and know he was down on his luck, then you're already biased. The uninformed viewer doesn't have those additional contextual clues, so it's up to you to deliver them. My comment was suggesting that even a glimpse of his face could have driven the point home for the viewer. Then you wouldn't even need the title.

Well... when I saw this scene, it immediately stroke me as a sad one. His body language spoke to me as if saying he was tired of living. I don't have contextual knowledge about the guy any more than the viewer does. Impressions are somewhat fleeting. That's all that was. Maybe he was really just looking at his watch. But when I looked at him, he seemed beat down and out of luck.

Almost has a tree coming out of his head, but accepting that this is street photography, that is overlooked. You get what you get with this genre. This tells it's story well.

There's something really moving about his hunched position and the back of his neck. Really like it,

Not really relevant to "luck"
