I like the way you framed the dandelion head at the extreme lower edge of the photo. The seeds which look like spears with parachutes attached are made very apparent by using the dark and light areas in the background.
I too like the clarity and the extreme shallow depth of field in the background. I actually think the dark area is a positive and not a negative.
I use a focusing rail with many of my images, but you need to realize that when you start using a rail depending on the model, it will add a lot more weight to your overall camera setup and you will need a heavier duty tripod and head to go with it. |

Extremely nice! I really don't have an issue with the dark section.....the florets stand out, so the change in background merely adds an extra level of depth IMO. |

Critique Club Review:
Color Saturation and Hue: Colors are vivid, nothing is over saturated, hues are natural.
Brightness and contrast are very good. I like it that you were able use exposure and lighting angle to keep so much texture in the head of the dandelion.
Focus and depth of field: Focus is nice and sharp, depth of field is well used to create a pleasing bokeh that adds to the composition.
As you've already noted, the dark area distracts a bit. There also appears to be a bit of processing artifact around the tops of the florets.
The image really works with just the two florets remaining. Sort a humorous, space alien/my favorite Martian effect. |

This is awesome. It reminds me of two dancing people... Could have done well in personification too! Good shot. |
