Very crisp with grit. The yellow jackets brings it to life.

Congrats on third place. Didn't get to vote on all of these, so I missed it. But I see it's taken in my "home base", which makes it more special to me. (Well, it's not exactly my home town, but I've lived here in the capital district for 28 years now!)

Nice DOF and detail. Unfotunately it looks like the bright parts of the head are a little overexposed, but the rusted chain looks about right. It looks like you used a flash. Maybe setting up a different lighting source or bouncing the flash (or diffusing the flash) would help eliminate the blooming on the highlights but still give you good detail and shadows.

This could just as well have made it into Serendipity. Seems like the lighting may be slightly overexposed in the bee's head and the top of the chain link, but that's really nit-picky as overall it is an amazing image with great focus.

I was hoping to find a bug somewhere rusty.. found a spider NEXT to something rusty, but that didn't help me any. NICE job with this, meets the challenge with something extra for interest! Very sharp, excellent focus, and the colours are fantastic. 10

My favorite of all the 'rusty chains' of the challenge, simply because there is something besides the chain to draw my interes. Just curious, did you just spot him there, or is he placed?

Great picture. The color is fabulous. Think I would have enjoyed it even more with a greater DOF so all of it was in focus. That is a very wicked looking bug!

Yikes, almost missed it. Thought I looked at "just another darned rusty chain" :-)

Nice capture. Tell me it wasn't a "find" but that you set it up somehow? Had I been in a bad mood I'd fired away a DQ request for PS-job, but I'm not so I'm just assuming you found the little buggar like that. Hope you don't suffer too much from "thumbnail voting".
