I was torn between this and another entry (which I may post as an outtake after the challenge is over). My wife talked me into this one.

This was taken at a lake that is virtually in my backyard. Cool morning air provided the fog on the water. Lucky to catch geese flying overhead. Wish their reflections were more distinct.

The sky was actually cloudless that morning. What appears like clouds in the top of my capture is actually part of what's called a "marl reef" just inches below the surface of the water in front of me. Obviously this becomes instantly recognizable when you flip the image.

Take one step forward from that point and you'd begin a drop to the bottom of a 170-ft deep meromictic lake. Even though I'm a decent swimmer, it's a little unnerving if you let yourself think about it while standing along the edges of this thing. Certainly a good idea to hold on tightly to the camera equipment!

Thanks for looking!

Love the line of the birds flying across this, not sure which is the reflection and which is the true subject, not that it matters for this shot as theres enough of the reflection either way.

What an intriguing image. The 180 degree rotation does add something here, it makes me really peer at the image to work out what I'm seeing. The mist looks so strange upside down as does whatever is below the water surface in the foreground.

Great line of geese. The blown part in 'real life' is a bit distracting... but I realize to get the reflection so beautiful and the trees still good was difficult.
