 HDR photo of lake near my home. Was hoping to see a beautiful sunrise through the clouds on this morning, but it was not meant to be. I was pleased to find some interesting cloud textures upon closer review (though I wish I'd been able to deal with the blown highlights in PP without adversely affecting the rest of the image).

Had great DOF front to back, but decided in PP to soften the picture for a more "dreamy" quality overall with sharp focus maintained on the foreground branches of colored leaves toward the center of the image.

6 photos combined using Photomatix. Additional PP included: curves, crop, some desat (both global and selective), minor cloning, noise reduction, resize, USM, selective blur.

Jake and Susie pushed aside the last bush, and then abruptly stopped and stared. They glanced behind them, ready to run back the way they'd come, but the path had disappeared. Susie began to sob, and Jake began to repeat to himself, under his breath, "no.. no... no..."

They'd been warned, but they'd laughed it off as impossible. Just silly tales from silly trappers and woodsmen. It wasn't real.

Yet here they were. Somehow they'd stumbled upon it.

a nice scene framed by the trees but the choice of odd color adjustment really doesn't work for me - it may have been the point from looking at the title, but the water reflection colors give the image an extremely odd look

I know that very smooth look is generally not well liked but I think it's gorgeous. Beautiful scenery and colours.
