 This image is an undeserving recreation of a great photograph taken in 1980, on film, by King Douglas. I don't know how it will do in the challenge but I like it and I'll be happy with whatever score it gets. Thanks to my friend Jorge for dressing up and modeling. Lighting consisted of a large octagon above and slightly to the right of the camera, about 3 feet away from the subject, a smaller soft box on the ground to the left of the camera and also about 3 feet from the subject, then, a dim monolight 2 feet behind the subject and finally, a 500 watt continuous halogen work-light from Home Depot to which I adapted a set of barn doors and 20 degree honeycomb to illuminate the moving hand only. I first tested this technique in my popcorn picture and I liked the result, so, when I discovered the King Douglas picture I immediately wanted to do something similar.

Huge congrats brother for this extraordinary shot that truly deserved a ribbon!!
This is such a great example of a special effect not based in pp but a carefully planned studio lighting.

Excellent shot! I love it, choice of subject is VERY interesting and different plus the motion forming the letter makes it meet the challenge perfectly as well as keep in the theme of chosen subject!
