Well I sure didnt see that coming. At 45 votes I had a 5.8. I slowly crept up throughout the week. I do realize that this is similar to a recent entry of mine. But when a challenge has so few entries I have a hard time not entering. And life has been so busy here that I just ran with a simple setup in hopes of breaking a 6. Seems it worked out ok.

And hey - while IreneM is away on vacation I need to do all the catching up I can. ;)

Awesome photo Tim..great minds think alike :) Even our titles are similar! I like your photo better than mine and can easily see why it was .4 higher...the composition is so much more dynamic. Great job and congrats.

I looked at your profile and saw those 4 straight ribbons and thought I must be sorting by average. Nope, turns out you're just a ribbon hog. Congrats.

You've got the magic touch, Tim. What I like most is all of the diagonal lines created by your arms. Nicely done.

I can see what you're saying - to me the concern, apprehension is in the pose/expression of the parent, while the child's appearance exudes security, warmth, safety. In that respect, I think this works very well not only for this challenge, but as a metaphor for parenting. So you're not the only one who saw something a bit more edgy or unsettled.

I knew this was going to be the 'BLUE', as it was the BEST in the challenge.....

P E R F E C T and so so 'emotive', and I do get a warm fuzzy a feeling of safety in this one, that's for sure......

Hm. I still simply get a feeling of threatening from this, or... if not exactly threatening, like it's a shot post-accident where the parent is hugging the child out of grief.

Does nobody else feel that when they look at this shot? Was I traumatized as a child or something that I don't remember and it's coming through sub-conciously?

Timfythetoo, I find this a wee bit too similar to the shot entered into the your occupation challenge but the idea is really nice.

While this is a good idea, the models just look to posed and awkward to me

Ironically, I get a sense of not safety in this shot, but one of threatening. Whether it's a sense of tension in the pose, or something else, I can't really place it, but my first reaction wasn't the one I think you meant.

Tim: An exceptional portrait that can convey many concepts, safety, security, comfort, thankfulness that no one was hurt. I'm about halfway through voting and am starting with a 7 vote for this one. I'll be taking another look at all of my 7's to find and bump my top choices. By what I've seen so far, you will be getting a bump later this week. Good luck.

Back to bump to a 9. This is by far one of the best of the studio shots in this challenge. Nice job.

Lovely image Tim.

It's a little dark for the topic I think. Unless, as I look at it further the darkness around the edges are what you're 'saving' her from - and then it's good - GRIN!
