Thank you very much for your kind comments and fav's.

I was really expecting to be dissapointed by the voting on this image! I'm my own worst critic and I'm still not satified with it 100%, but I was more than overwhelmed by my score during voting which topped 7.84 three day's in! Wow, still can't believe I've got a blue and a massive improvement on my PB!!!

Editing steps:

5 exposures, 2-stops apart, combined using photomatix. Imported into Lightroom 2 with changes made to exposure, white balance, contrast and recovery.

Imported into CS2:(not in order)

-level + curves adjustments inc. layer masks
-contrast/brightness adjustments
-warming filter adjustment layers
-spot healing
-selective colour adjustments (global)
-selective dodging + burning inc. colour burn adjustments
-LAB conversion with changes to luminosity, alpha and beta channels to improve contrast, remove colour cast, and tone image
-conversion back to RGB mode
-shadow/highlight adjustments (layer mask)
-vignette layer using curves (layer mask)
-noise reduction on water (layer mask)
-sharpening
-resize and safe for web.

I spent a solid 2 weeks on this, basically because I kept tweaking it here and there, only to change my mind the day after because I didn't like it! I might tweak it again still!!!

Once again, many thanks for enjoying my image and for your favourable comments.

Imagem brutal e perfeitamente executada numa técnica que usualmente produz resultados artificiais, o que não é o caso, pois aqui a harmonia das cores e a subtileza dos detalhes é superlativa. Parabéns!

Congrats on the ribbon! It is a beautiful final product.

In reading your editing steps and how much time it took you to get to this fabulous point, would you be willing to post the original for us to see? (Still learning so, I'd love to see what a ribboner had to do in order to get to this point.:))

Excellent shot, worthy of the blue in one of the strongest challenges ever. I particularly like the patterns on the sand in the bottom left corner. Congrats!

Very interesting shot. I always love HDR photography - it adds such depth. Perhaps my only slight comment would be the darkness of the clouds in the foreground versus the background near the sun. A slight colour enhancement there might add a different depth to the image, but then again maybe I am just being a pain :o)

9/10 from me

Congratulations!! Fantastic image. A long trip to Wales, but boy was it worth it. I think that at least here on DPC I haven't seen an HDR image that looks so natural and "clean".
By the way, love your "new" name!

Kyle had been here for centuries. His beacon had lit the night. His presence the savior of so many. Now, the world had moved on. The sea had changed, the ships had gone.

As the sun set on the day, Kyle knew it also set on his lifetime, on his legacy.

With a final flash, his light burnt out, and in that twilight his legend slipped into the past.

All but praise. A really big 10 from me. Really balanced landscape work. If HDR was done, it's perfect and what it should be used for (for my HDR taste). I expect this to place in the top10 at least. Good luck :)
