As we go through life we are always looking for a sign of some kind to tell us which choice to take. Sometimes we see the sign, but we still don't know what is on the other side.
After an evening thunderstorm, I saw the sun was breaking through the clouds in a wonderful way. I pulled over to get some shots of it across downtown, and noticed the way the light was striking the back of this sign and making it stand out. I wasn't even thinking of the challenge at the time, but when reviewing my shots later on, I realized this one fit nicely.
Pre-challenge notes:
Not sure if the voting population on DPC will see the relevance of this to the challenge topic. Since it is road related, but the message is more subtle, it's hard to tell how it will be taken. Won't ever know unless I throw it in there. Hoping this is good for a high 5, though sub-5 scores no longer surprise me either.
Post challenge notes:
I think I entered WAYYY too much of a metaphor. A handful of commenters did understand what I was trying to convey. I think I could have entered a snapshot of the street in front of my house and it would have scored higher! This performance did not surprise me, though. IMO, this is probably my best low scoring shot. |

Interesting score. I didn't vote in this challenge, but if I had, I would have given this an 8. The colors are great, composition and focus is wonderful, and the image makes you think. I am VERy surprised it didn't do better. Perhaps people didn't "get it"?

| I like the color, framing, and simplicity. However, a relatively new looking sign does not denote a road, actual or methaphorical, less traveled. |
