My first flower image for 'Day 1' FLOWER side challenge, is this wonderful orange colored Hibiscus.

By the way, Peter picked this beauty from our tropical rain forest garden for me and said he thought I like to photograph it.

I don't always get out into our garden, and therefore miss a lot of the flowers that are in bloom.

I often look down on it from our back verandah.

I think both he and the flower, are very special.

Enjoy.....

Shez,
I really really like how the lines just keep drawing your eye into the center of this shot. Very nice gift you received and I'm glad you saved it for posterity (by way of a nice shot) for the rest of us to enjoy.

This is almost hypnotizing the way the petals gently curve around. It really pulls you into the center.

The reds seemed a bit over-saturated to me, so I tested turning the saturation down a bit in Photoshop via Hue/Saturation. I didn't like the outcome, but then just turned the brightness down (a lot!) on the red level with the same tool. It looks like a pit of fire! Your version is much happier.

Just look at those colours. I so love your square crops. They work so well. Living in an apartment restricts me a bit to cut flowers or parks and other peoples gardens. Just great.

I love orange flowers! I've never seen an orange hibiscus. They don't grow here so the only ones I've seen were away or in greenhouse. Simply beautiful!

Beautiful study as per usual. Your images are always so clean. I remember you saying that you dust the plants before shooting them - but I assume some post dusting is also required. Anyway, the results are always quality.
