OK so there's more than one colour here, but they're all contained! Shot late in the evening on my gravel pathway, a geranium or peony or something similar pushing its lonesome way up through the gravel.

How cool that it's actually growing there. I thought it had been placed. Very much meets the challenge, and I like the contrast of the gravel to the very determined flower of considerably different and softer texture.

According to my encyclopedic knowledge of flora (me and the encyclopedias have an agreement about who needs to know all that stuff), this is the same sort of death-defying pansy as I have in my all-time highest scoring shot - self seeded and magnificently failing to respond to our messages about how it is not required to grow this year.

It's a great shot and it smacks the challenge description right between the eyes. Seriously under- appreciated.

The rocks don't rock as a background and there isn't sufficient contrast between the flower and the rocks

With some direct lighting on the flower, you'll improve the color, texture, and sharpness of your subject. Currently, it just doesn't stand out enough.

I really like your compostion. The focus seems a little off, more on the rocks than the centre of the flower. I would have been tempted to clone out the spots on the petals.
