Woohoo! Congrats, Steve! Perfect timing and use of B&W.

And I think Man_Called_Horse's reaction is funny. I mean, he's basically saying "how dare the voters not adhere strictly to firm guidelines and look at this image without knowing what to look for." It's the same reaction as others who spend more time worrying about the "rules" of portraits, landscapes, or you name it instead of deciding whether they like an image or not. :)

Sorry, but I am on the opposite end of liking this image.

Yes, typical voting from viewers that see an image they like, but have no clue what to look for in a sports action image.

I gave a 5 in the voting, which is high for this image from me.

The thing is, there are certain guidelines to sports action photography, and very few were met here.

I hate looking at ear shots. I want to see the face.

To me this is a photo from a loving parent of their great child, but, not a great sports action photo.

Nice capture. The angle of the body really shows the movement.

Almost success anyways. I'm assuming he caught it? Nice shot, especially the monochromaticness.

Great catch...both of you! :-) You really got some nice rich tones out of your B&W conversion. Touch of sepia in there as well? Nice job!
