He was a little tipsy, having fun at the festival dancing alone, doing some quirky stepping while his drunk friend coaxed him on. A nice crowd gathered to watch him gyrate as they cheered and applauded. In that moment he was experiencing as much joy as anyone else on the planet.

On a sad note: I was holding a huge plate of Crawfish Etouffe and Alligator Sausage while snapping away, one-handed when his drunk-ass friend lurched sideways and knocked my whole plate of food to the ground. Huge bummer.

You can't ignore rockabilly! When you feel it, you feel it, and everyone else is just jealous no matter how retarded you appear.

Can't find a Cartier-Bresson image to compare this to, so I decided to kill five minutes imagining that he's moonwalking, left to right.

This guy just cracks me up! Whenever I'm in a funk I can just look at this and smile.

Can I save this image? (pretty please)

Sexy beast! How fortuitous that the sign was there as well. I'm so curious about what is in the bag, what is in his hand and what he is dancing to! Also, that "21" just kind of jumped out at me. As if to remind me that this man would love to be 21 again.

Could he have any more flavor?! He has a torn David Bowie poster hanging in his kitchen and makes a lot of noise when he slurps his Cup-O-Noodles supper.

I have always loved this.

Not only is this a great street candid, but he has some of the funkiest shoes I have ever seen. This is magnificent as a black and white as I am sure the colors of the background would have been very distracting.

Oh that's an outstanding street capture :-) What a shame the sign's truncated, being as how it's such a significant part of the overall impact here.

I don't remember where I saw this before.....but I loved it then, too! This is a great slice of life; a truly terrific urban vignette. Nice!

One of my top two candidates for the blue so far.

This one has to be one of my favorites.

I can see how "lost" this man is in his own private world at this point. Likely more lost completely but, that's besides the point. LOL The awkward position of his feet and arms, tell us that he is two sheets to the wind but, totally feeling that music take his drunken and very uncooridinated body into a "groove" of his own and within his own realm, seemingly either unaware of who is watching or, loving the attention. Limbered up to just let loose. The fact that you captured this moment so directly, has me entranced in this photo.

Sorry about your dinner! LOL

We just came back from a blues fest and we saw this same guy, although he looked a bit different. He danced the same and like you said, he was experiencing as much joy as anyone else on the planet. Great candid.

absolutely great shot; it should be filled with humor, but its not. the black and white adds a gravitas, but the focus is strikingly sharp and the subject fills the frame unobstructed. You can't take your eyes off- and the only distraction is the strong focus on the cd's behind the dude.

beautifully done, my friend; perhaps a little dominant in the mid-greys for my eye, but that's personal. I always have a slight concern about an element of making fun of people in these kind of shots: there's a temptation to think your intention is akin to 'look at his weirdo, hahaha!' - something I get very strongly from Diane Arbus for instance - a lack of sympathy. I'm not quite sure where this stands, but in the end I think he's just having too good a time by himself for that to be an issue. The spillage/staining down his leg pushes things the other way. Properly interesting and thoughtful photograph though, all the same. Fine indeed.
