When I got the job to tail John, I wasn't sure if it was the kind of assignment that I wanted to get involved in. John was a solitary individual, who often took long walks.

On this day, I followed him down a dark and lonely path through the woods. He was moving extra quickly this day, and I found it hard to keep up. As he turned the bend, I rushed to catch up.

He was gone!

Great concept and good execution. The BW looks good though i feel the left part is too dark and doesn't add much to the composition

He knew that was the tree. He had studied it so carefully. Two thick branches separating from the trunk and then crossing back over each other; a knot the shape of an upside-down heart; rough, flaking bark; small pale leaves; and of course the roots plunging into the earth. The largest one pointed to a rock five feet away, a rock that was now upended like a sad turtle. Yes, that was the rock and that was the tree. But where was the body? He stood up and walked further into the woods, looking for another tree exactly like it, or at least a place to hide.

I love the bw conversion here. The size of the man really makes his surroundings look like they are literally swallowing him up. Very lonely feeling. Nice work.

Super-high contrast, combined with that title, makes this pretty effective in my opinion.
