 When the kids put their chairs up on the tables after class, I noticed this one was quite precariously placed.

Nothing done except crop, resize, sharpen.

Maybe this handheld shot will give me a "leg up" on a good score; a boring subject, but not an odd object among many at least.

Well focused considering your shallow DOF. The things at the bottom are distracting, maybe you should have give it a tighter croping from the bottom. Maybe B&W.

Good eye on capturing this shot for the challenge. I think it would have looked better if you cropped out the lower portion of the picture just above the pencil. It would have eliminated alot of the clutter and made the picture more photographically interesting because you would be focusing in more on the subject.
