Wow - thanks to everyone who voted for this. I was pleased with this pic, but never imagined it'd do so well!

1. Hardboil 6 freerange eggs. This is essential - if you're gonna waste eggs, then you want the chicken to have had a happy life producing it!

2. Make small holes in the tops and bottoms - I used a compass point.

3. Stick the bottom egg to a sheet of glass with placticine. Glass is essential - I found other bases, such as paper, go soggy with a raw egg on top!

4. Carefully balance the eggs on top of each other. I found a cocktail stick inserted through the eggs helped here!

5. Place a complimentary coloured background behind the eggs.

6. Crack an egg in the foreground - being careful not to waste too many popping them on the sharp shell.

7. Take lots of pics before the eggs tople over, or the raw egg slithers off the glass!

You didn't blow the eggs first? Seems like it would be easier. I LOVE this one! Mind if I give it a try?
Oh, just noticed you said Hard Boiled...sorry!

Congrats on the ribbon and many kudos for sharing your setup. It's always nice to see the ribbon winners try to share what they've learned with a shot with others!

The green is such a great complement to those eggs. Very clever with the balancing act there. Congrats on the Red!

Self taught for about 6-months. So I suppose I'm very much still a student of photography.....
