So, I had this fantastically wonderfully creative idea, but waited until Tuesday to even start. blech.

Lots of stuff, done the hard way with basic editing (which I generally prefer, oddly enough). Played with the colors a bit, noise reduction, contrast, clarify.

resized, hit "despeckle" and got rid of the shiny crystal things from the sugar.

Mounds of sugar in front of a piece of purple construction paper, side-lit with a flashlight, with a second flashlight shining on the left side of the paper.

i figure this will be yet another sub-5 entry. :/ but, i kinda like it, so

Unfortunately the image looks as though it's lost some quality... but the photo itself is excellent - awesome lighting. ;)

Good use of a macro to convey a landscape here. Lighting adds a nice sense of drama,

Very creative idea and nicely executed. I am still wondering whether this is brown sugar or a very artfully placed blanket, but what ever it is it works well. I love the subtlty of the curves that you have greated and the 'by moonlight' adds another level. Beautiful textures. Bumped to 9

this is a really good shot, but the blue light on the left side steals emphasis on the picture. Maybe an all black background could help

Good concept. I feel that the purple on the left takes away from the nice contrast lighting on the dunes.

sugar grains?

The details on the grains look strange to me. Might be the resolution and the way you've sharpened it.

The lighting and texture is very nice. It all adds up to look like real sand dunes.

Very good idea. The foreground shadows are bit too dark though. Would've been nice to see a little more texture there.

Good composition and idea; wish the light was a bit more even across the front dune and less bright on the left.

I like the textures and lighting. I feel like this is lunar type landscape and I keep expecting to see a lunar module or space man pop up behind the ridge.

the dof is a bit too shallow imo... would have been nice to have more sand in focus esp in the foreground left
