 Thanks everyone! I thought I'd probably never get another ribbon. Thanks again, so much!!

It is a wonder that this turned out very well. We drove to the Sand Dunes and when we got there I turned to the back seat to get my camera ready and I didn't have my good lenses! They were left in the cases in a little basket at home and hadn't been carried out to the car! The Sigma 70 - 300 was the only one I had with me with any sort of distance.

It was so windy, I could barely stand and the camera was very hard to hold still. What looks like motion across the dunes IS - the sand was just whipping across them making them look like they were almost flowing.

My husband and I took a drive to the Sand Dunes today and took some pictures - it was super windy. I good barely hold the camera steady to take pictures. You can just see the wind blowing in the pictures.

Editing in Photoshop CS2: Levels, reduce noise on selected shadow areas; selective color; resize; smart sharpen; sharpen tool on crests of dunes and marks in dunes; save for web.

congrats and excellent job under difficult conditions. I experienced much the same recently on my visit to a California dune.... but my fav place to shoot dunes will always be at the Great Sand Dunes

Spectacular lighting and very pleasing texture in this photograph. The shapes in the dunes are very pleasing and kind of look like a sheet blowing in the wind.
