Location: NE Arizona, Navajo Reservation
Date: Mar 16, 2008
Aperture: 10
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/1600

convert from RAW with crop. lots of dodging and burning with layers, some hue/sat, light gaussian blur on layer, cloned out some tiny pole tips in the distance, USM, resize USM

Yes, the dirt really is this color out there. Thanks to constantly changing light through holes in the storm clouds, this area was uniquely lit. I just got lucky it was doing this at the time I drove by on my way home (NW MN) from Phoenix.

Likely to be mediocre scoring... like my last landscape FS entry but I like it.

Nice title. Wide perspective is nice, the path carries us into the image, and there is a nice subtle range of tones here. A small nit: The little piece of blue sky is distracting to my eye because it competes with the softer colors in the scape; you might consider desaturating that a bit.

This almost looks like a miniature. I love wider angle landscapes! This texture is incredible!

Nice play on words. Looks prehistoric. Almost looks fake like it's in a background to a set in a museum.

It's a gorgeous scene and well exposed, but the extreme aspect ratio does not help. I think a regular aspect ratio with some sort of foreground included as well would have been great.

Remarkably crisp & clean. The colors are outstanding & the composition is right on.

Absolutely beautiful. I like the way you can see all of the layers really well. I don't know if you applied the vignetting, but on my screen, the pathway stands out. Good job on PP.
