What makes this interesting is what makes it different. A spiral fire escape is so out of the ordinary, that its presence already pops this shot. Then seeing three alcoves that obviously used to be windows is another odd element. The two together, makes for a visually stimulating shot. Thank you.

I like the detail and contrast of this. But I see two patterns here fighting for dominance as the subject, and the way the fire escape is slightly cut off at the edge is not working for me, either. I think you should have focused on either the fire escape or the blocked in windows.
