The only “harsh environment” we’ve had this last week has been endless rain.

Post challenge:
A few voters mentioned they’d like to hear how I did it, so here goes:
I upturned a glass oven dish and sat the leaves on the flat surface. Sprayed the whole thing with water, put the dish onto the draining board underneath the tap and put the tap on just enough to let a drip/drop out every second or so. I got the golden tone by placing a yellow board behind the tap
One flash in the sink pointing towards the dish and the other flash pointing to the yellow board.
Here are a couple of outtakes, all the drops are real.

Thanks for the helpful comments and score.

wow, Irene you have such an eye and imagination to capture and convey messages that are overlooked by most people. Such simple things like leaves and water portrayed so beautifully. Some say it's the little details that matter, and your photography proves that to be true

Very nice, and a creative OOB take on the challenge. This blows your coffee drops out of the water, imho. Maybe you should do more of these more creative set-ups.

Wow, gold plated leaves! Not a ribbon, but it's still floating near the top. A bit busy, but it does look like a harsh environment on a far off planet.

the tones and light here are so engaging, the droplet of water hanging there feels as if it is infused with a tremendous energy, very beautiful.

Stunning! Perfect composition, lighting and timing. One of my favorites, although it's pushing it a bit (IMHO) for "harsh environments", but no deduction for that, you needed to enter this!

excellent execution, but it seems a tenuous link to a "Harsh" environment... i think it might be because the shot looks so nice that it looses any sense of harshness, i just see beauty... and the current state of affairs (ie puddle) is a fairly normal environment for a leaf, not a harsh one... still scores well in my book as it is probably (criteria aside) my fav shot in this challenge...

I like the gold color but it almost seems too much which confuses my eye as to what the subject is, very good submission though

Love the simplistic nature of this and the colors are superb. Still trying to work out how the droplet is suspended. great job

while this doesn't seem "harsh" to me, the image is simply superb. Wonderful forms, flow, feel, and tonality. 10
