I was photographing my son's "Heart of Texas" Crew Tournament in Austin, Texas today and happened to be right there when a team of two boys capsized. The one you see here saw me and tried to hide. Poor kid!

I know this is a bit "snapshotty," but I need to live up to my goal and start submitting to challenges every month. I had already put away my telephoto lens and went back to the kit lens when I took this photo. Not quite as sharp at longer distances (the full 135mm). Uggh!

I am afraid this is going to score lower than my current average of 5.2878. Trying not to do that!

A tighter zoom and/or crop would have worked here.

I feel this could use a bit of straightening

If the challenge were called; Embarrassment, you would rank high.

You almost don't need the shoreline. The bouys communicate that this is near land.

you should crop out the land in the background and maybe clone the water to cover the bouys.... or crop them out too so you don't have the reflection of the trees. i think this would give you the illusion that this guy is stranded/desperate and hanging on for life just as he is hanging on to the capsized boat.

This shot certainly meets the criteria of the challenge. I might have tried to crop it a bit tighter. I know it's important to get the boat, but even in this shot you can't see the whole thing. I think with a tighter crop more focus from the viewer would fall on the subject. As I look at the photo I can't help but look to the left because of the letter on the boat.

Too much overcast and lost highlights. Maybe change WB and adjust contrast.

Believe a tighter crop would have worked better.

Could have cropped tighter to make the image more impactful
