One of those big puffball seed things. I finally found them while I was out last summer and collected a few so I dug them out for macro month!

Sat in front of a window, but the color in the background was dull. I had printed out a photo the other day, but was out of yellow ink in the printer cartridge... the paper was lying on top of the recycle pile, so I held it up behind the seed pod to give some extra color. Used the 50mm lens with a reversing ring.

A few auto-adjustment layers, some desaturation, cropped off a bit of the right side where there were some blown out corners, a brightness/contrast adjustment, resize and USM.

This is one of the prettiest photos of these seedling things I've ever seen. I keep looking at it and studying it thinking, "I wish I could do that!"

This is very beautiful! Very creative use of recycled paper! I don't think I would have ever thought of something like that!

Wow! This is awesome. I cannot believe this is done with 50mm 1.8. You inspired me to play with my 50mm 1.4's macro capabilities. Love the delicate feel and pastel colors. (IMO) Maybe you could have used some neat-image to smoothen it out a bit. Delicate, pastel and smooth goes well together ;)

this is beautifully handled, and the extra color 'makes' the picture extra special.

A very interesting macro. I think the background colors was a good decision and it really bring the subject out. I like the soft focus around the edges and crisp in the middle. The leading lines help this image a lot. Very nice!

Your background works perfectly with this. I love the shallow DOF, giving such wonderful softness behind the sharp lines.

The lines are amazing and so in focus. The puffiness is slightly out of focus and adds to the beautiful composition and the background colors are soft yet add depth.

Just wonderful to look at, all the pastel colors, the blur in the background, sharp focus in the foreground. Great image! Good thing you were out of yellow ink.

Great idea with the printed photo, it added great colors to the background. Seems so dreamy. Wonderful shot. I need to try the reverse ring.

This is so much like a shot of Ursula's I remember seeing! Beautiful...it is so difficult to get such a great amount of detail with beautiful colours and composition but you have done it excellently here! Looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings! :o)

Love this! Almost impressionistic. Great choice of colors to augment the image. There's a ton of color noise, that lends a wonderfully brushed feeling to the whole. Neat Image would have ruined this shot. Top ranks!

I like the diagonal flow and contrasting colors - yellow/brown puffball against the *yellow-less* photo! :) There is some noticeable noise in the darker areas, but it doesn't disturb.

Absolutely beautiful. On seeing this, I immediately wondered how the image would look if the seeds were pointing downwards rather than up (I know, I know. All I have to do is turn my monitor upside down ;-))
