Thanks for the votes and comments. This didn't come out quite the way I envisioned but needed to enter something for the Enzo challenge.

Setup is fairly straight forward. I removed the plate underneath the toaster, which allowed me to shoot a flash burst from underneath. It may not be obvious but the toaster is resting on some blocks so that the flash could rest underneath. Since I don't have a wireless trigger I had to hide the cord via a small hole in the paper behind the toaster. The toast is a bit overdone but I wanted to make it look obvious. The main thing I don't like about this is the light coming from inside (could be a lot better) and the light spill at the bottom which unfortunately I wasn't able to clone out.

This is a superb shot that I think really should have done a lot better that 8th. It's those 2s and 3s again...

EDIT: p.s. I actually really like the flash spillage underneath the toaster...looks more natural and might look odd without

Very clever set-up!
I actually like the light spilling out from the bottom. The tones and reflections are beautiful. After just recently trying to shoot a shiny toaster myself, I can safely say you did a terrific job lighting this really tough subject. ;) I wonder how it might look if the light was more golden/yellow? I personally think the rough brown toast clashes a bit with the clean white surroundings. But maybe that's a good thing.
Just a thought.

I don't care for the centered view, but otherwise, this is really well done. good job with keeping yourself out of the reflection as much as possible.

Cool! What did you use to light the bottom of the toaster slots?

Superbly composed. Very clean with excellent color contrast (both in color and texture) between the toaster and the toast. An eight for you.

This one came in high for me, and would have been even higher if the lighting had not been quite so bright.

Really like the lighting coming up from the toaster. The relection of the light on the front of the toaster is a little distracting.

Great job handling the lighting and tough reflections. The toast is a little "well done" IMO, and it would've been nice to get a red glow inside the toaster.

Very nice picture of a toaster, but not so good of the things that used to be bread. Loss of texture. Maybe the colour got a bit weirded out by selective desat?
