All data are irregular. ISO is 200 and f stop is f5.6. My very first try at portraits with the D70. Now, my camera is gone.:(

Great picture.

But, tell me how you got ISO 100 on your D70! I want it too. OMG! It's shot at f/100 too? Highly irregular.

Wonderful Picture - Just the fullest credit to the photographer and to the lady who gives the stare. The lady looks superb with those 2 hairlines on her face.

Its on my desktop already.

I LOVE THE PHOTOGRAPH !

Manny to be quite honest I think this shot is far more interesting than the 1st prize if only because it is not a studio shot like the other one...it breathes real life while the other does not. this is my opinion only and does not commit anybody but myself:-)

I can't believe I "made" it to the top three this time. After 3 fourth place finish, I though the ribbon will continually elude me. I am very overwhelmed with the results and I knew the competition was so stiff after looking at the other entries.

Anyway, this picture of my student in my Psychology class last semester is a stroke of luck. Trying out my new D70, I came across Kittie on the hallway and I asked her to pose for me (and enter her picture in a competition if it turns out well). She relented. The background is the white wall of our school.

And by the way, Kittie is on the cover of a Thai magazine this week. She is a part-time ramp and print ad model.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for giving me my first ribbon! And to the one who gave me a 1, I actually like it as it reminds me of how much I have to learn yet in the field of photography.

Yes, she hypnotised me also and got a 10

Very cool on your first ribbon! And a well deserved one at that. Awesome portrait and the only one that I think used negative space to it's advantage! Can't wait to see how ya follow it up!

The hair blowing across her face is what does it for this photo. I get the sense of movement by it and at the same time her eyes are looking at me in a frozen stare. Good composition, the negative space on the right in the direction of the wind blowing is a good touch. I also like the way the thumb is pointing in that direction. I personally would have done a little extra photoshop work on the eyes, a slight bit sharper and also I would have dodged the whites of the eyes to make them a tiny bit lighter.

well done. i like the tight DOF and the offset position of your subject.

Its good so expect to do well. I would prefer a tighter crop and maybe a bit more contrast. good luck

I like the expresion, the hair acros the face, the skin color against the white shirt, all very good. But it is missing something, maybe needs a totally white background to add impact. A strong light against the wall.

One of my favorites. Great expression and color- nicely done. Minor nitpicks... the blown-out collar, soft focus on the hand and the red spot by the nose that could have easily been fixed. Still great. 9

This is a great pose. Sharper on those eyes and then softening up the rest of the face (the nose seems most prominent and focused). Very good

the light grey border is a distraction...the crop you chose is very nice...gives a good contrast between your model and the background...I really like the way the hair is blowing back across her face...she has amazing eyes...looks very comfortable posing...nice job

Looks a little blurry. Did you use a very low F stop or something? If so, did you do it on purpose??

Very nice composition and use of negative space, the color is so warm and crisp that it reinforces the look - very cool. - 8

What a great expression! Such confidence. I love the flowing hair, however I think a reflector or small light source from the right side would help balance the lighting. :)

This has got to be one of my favorites! Love the composition and the wisps of hair across her face. The lighting is very nice. It has a soft feeling to it but sharp details. You titled it well, she has very intriguing eyes. A lovely subject. She looks very casual and natural.

This is an excellent portrait. I like the wind-blown hair. Having her hand in the frame seems to add something for me as well. I don't really know what it is but it works.
