This is an HDR shot of the oldest street in the UNESCO World Heritage old town of Ferrara, It. The man who owns the car runs a bicyle repair shop, light from which you can see at the bottom of the picture. The shot may appear not to be straight, however it is in fact the buildings leaning in various directions that give the impression of inbalance.

I hope that I'm not marked down for the lights in the the middle of the shot - I know what DPCers are like about that kind of a thing - but I feel it adds to the depth of the shot and draws your focus down the road.

This photo was shot using a Nikon D40X mounted on a tripod. It is a HDR picture composed of 4 RAW image files shot at increments of +/-2ev. (NOT easy with this camera, there is no auto exposure bracket so the EV has to be changed manually with the camera in apeture priority mode - WITHOUT moving it...).

For processing, plug the 4 shots into Photomatix hit generate and you're away. This shot took about half an hour of tweaking in tone mapping but I'm very pleased with the result. Big up to Bear_Music for getting me hooked on HDR...

Heh - I just noticed David's comment as I was about to type mine - my favorite part is the light at the bottom from the shop! I love how it means he's still in there, working. Just goes to show that a good photograph can say a lot of different things to different people. And contrats on the new camera! It's in good hands.

I like the effect, though less keen about the light at the bottom (from the shop).

Nice HDR here... i like the colours, but find that the one bright patch in the bottom is the only thing that takes away from it. Aside from that, I really like the photo.
