 One of two bald eagles at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. It was rather ironic that I had planned to take my daughter to the aviary, and the DPC gods were shining on me when I woke up to find "birds" as the new challenge topic :)

For once, perhaps I could get a 6 on a shot, maybe? I've been stinkin' up the joint lately, but I feel somewhat good about this one.

Great shot! Congrats on your top 10. You just scraped over 6 ;-)

I took a similar shot to this last year (nowhere near as good as yours though) and I'm kicking myself I didn't think about it when I did my Best of 2007 shot.

You certainly broke your hoped for 6. Excellent shot and removal of any net or other enclosure with the f2.8. Very majestic. And to think Ben Franklin wanted the national bird to be a turkey.

Incredibly sharp focus where you want it. The dark feathers are not under exposed like I might have expected with all of that white. Beautiful.

The technicals are great which is why it gets a 7. It would be higher if it had something else going for it. Just my opinion of course. Good luck.
